Why did we start Protein Pals?
Our mission is to help people lose weight so that they can improve the quality of their life—one step at a time.
In the future, we aim to incorporate mental support by professionals into our program in order to provide you with a more well-rounded service.

However, as I hit puberty and my appetite increased, my diet took a toll on my body. Despite my active lifestyle, my body began to show a significant increase in belly fat, without any muscle mass. To get back to my skinny self, I adopted an unhealthy eating pattern, where I wouldn't eat anything all day and indulge in unhealthy food once I got home. This went on for six months, and I managed to lose all the weight.
Later, when I met Marianna, my weight was 50 kg (110 lbs) for a height of 180 cm (6 feet). However, after moving in together, our unhealthy eating habits led me to weigh around 82 kg (180 lbs), with no muscle mass. I was unhappy with my appearance and decided to take action.
I researched extensively on nutrition and fitness, but the vast amount of information from various sources overwhelmed me, and I didn't know where to start. After hours of studying, I managed to create my eating schedule, which led to significant progress in the next few months. I lost weight and started to gain muscle, and that's when I discovered my passion for nutrition and fitness.
During my journey, I learned the importance of building sustainable and healthy habits that would help me maintain my weight loss over time. I developed various "diet hacks" that worked for me and made it easier to manage weight loss and gain. With my experience, I created ProteinPals together with Marianna, where the aim is to help others overcome their obstacles and achieve lasting success.

In the summer of 2016, I met James online and in October we planned to meet in person for the first time. In a bid to quickly shed weight, as I was still insecure about my body, I sought a dietician's help and embarked on a restrictive crash diet. I quickly met my weight target and felt proud about it.
In 2018, I moved in with James, after quitting my studies in History and Archeology (which I hated) to pursue and an education in Psychology in the Netherlands. Upon moving in together, I returned back to my old unhealthy habits and quickly regained the weight I had previously lost.
I continued a cycle of crash dieting and regaining weight for several years until I realized that I needed to change my approach. I began conducting thorough research on nutrition and exercise, taking online courses, and navigating through the vast information available.
Gradually, everything started to click. I realized that instead of seeking short-term fixes, I needed to apply lifestyle changes and establish sustainable habits. This was the only way to maintain my weight loss over time. This was a turning point for me. I started reaching my goals slowly but steadly.
Losing weight has transformed my life in ways I never thought possible. It was more than just shedding pounds; it was a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. As the weight melted away, so did my insecurities and self-doubt. I gained confidence I never knew existed within me. Simple tasks became easier, and I felt a renewed sense of vitality and energy. My relationships improved, and I felt a deeper connection with others. Most importantly, I learned to love and care for myself, nourishing both my body and soul. Losing weight wasn't just about physical change; it was about reclaiming my life and embracing a newfound happiness.
After applying these changes to our own lives, James and I felt the need to share our experience and help others. That’s how ProteinPals came to existence!
